Hancock Medical is our community’s health resource, providing a network of care to improve the health of those we serve.
Residents have relied on Hancock Medical Center as their community health resource since 1960. Established under the name of Hancock General Hospital, the Dunbar Avenue facility replaced Kings Daughters & Sons Hospital, a multi-room frame structure located in downtown Bay St. Louis. The Kings Daughters & Sons Hospital operation dated back to the 1920s.
Hancock Medical, the current Drinkwater Boulevard acute care facility constructed in 1987, is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Hancock Medical is licensed for 102 beds.
In February 2011, the FEMA Restoration and Mitigation Project began and the five-phase reconstruction of the hospital’s first floor started. One year later at the end of Phase I, the hospital cut the ribbon on a reconstructed Medical Nursing Unit and a 10,000 square-foot Swing Building addition. Reconstruction was completed in 2013.
Today in 2017, Hancock Medical is better than ever. A dedicated group of more than 100 physicians representing a broad spectrum of medical specialties make up Hancock Medical Center’s active and consulting medical staffs. Combined with the dedication of nearly 300 professional staff members, our health care team strives to provide the highest quality medical care for our community.
