CEO's Message
Hancock Medical Center is proud to be standing strong as the community’s health provider. Our hospital, its medical staff, Board of Trustees, administration and employees all suffered devastating losses as the target of Hurricane Katrina’s fury.
Together, we are rebuilding…and pledge to continue the same quality of personalized care our residents have relied on for generations.
Our health care team never faltered in their dedication…and our hospital was the first one to reopen after being completely shut down by Katrina’s floodwaters. Around-the-clock efforts by our facilities services staff, nurses, technicians and other employees allowed our emergency department to open its doors less than five weeks after sustaining three feet of water.
Our physicians share this commitment to our vital health care role in Hancock County. Most of them lost homes and medical offices, and are living and working in temporary locations in our community. Residents of Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Diamondhead, Pearlington, Kiln and Hancock County have the comfort of knowing continuity of care from their health care providers.
We are rebuilding….restoring…replacing…
Our residents deserve state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, and our goal is to provide just that. Generous donors throughout the country have come to our assistance to help us in this endeavor. By donating to the Hancock Medical Center Foundation’s Hurricane Relief Fund, many have assisted our staff members personally as they rebuild their lives. Others provided supplies and equipment to aid in our recovery. We are indebted to the kindness of others for their generous gifts of time, resources and talent.
Watch our progress! We love our community, and pledge to continue to provide the best in health services for its residents.
